Projects

The first project of the Halide Mehmetoglu Initiative will be taking place in the town of Lice. Although providing sporting facilities will serve as the pilot project and will foster character development and provide a welcome distraction from the hardships of the Kurdish regions, constructing them is not the final aim. Rather, it is to establish an IT classroom within the town and eventually in the wider region, to teach local children computer skills. The project will be conducted in collaboration with the Municipality of Lice and will allow the students to not only learn vital IT skills and sportsmanship but will also provide them with a distraction from the narcotic epidemic ravaging this community.
HMI's project in Lice represents a collaborative effort with the Municipality of Lice, ensuring that the initiative is tailored to the specific needs and circumstances of the local community. By working closely with municipal leaders, educators, and other stakeholders, HMI aims to create a sustainable and impactful program that resonates with the town's unique context.
The goal is for the Sports facilities will include Soccer and Basketball courts for children to exercise and forge connections.
The IT classroom will be equipped with modern computers, high-speed internet access, and a variety of educational software and tools. These resources will provide students with hands-on experience in using technology, from basic computer operations to more advanced skills such as coding, digital literacy, and internet safety.
